There are plenty of sites with beautiful, young, strong, super bendy people doing super amazing things that are enjoyable to watch, but unattainable for regular people.  Regular people have jobs, kids, or demands on their time. Regular people haven’t been doing this forever. Regular people have injuries. These classes are tailored for regular people. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be challenged, or that it will be easy. It means that your growth will be assisted by an experienced teacher giving detailed step by step cues to lead you forward. You will be challenged, but in attainable steps.

Core Building to Prevent Falls

Each year over 300,000 people in the US are hospitalized with a hip fracture – most are adults over 65.  About 30,000 of those will not leave the hospital. More than 95% of hip fractures are caused by falling, typically by falling sideways. One of the things doctors recommend is to do exercises such as Yoga to strengthen your core and legs and to improve your balance. In addition, Harvard health published a study that just 12 minutes of yoga practice each day is enough to reverse and prevent osteoporotic bone loss.

Meet your Host

With over 4 decades of teaching experience in dance, fitness, pilates and yoga, I have taught Olympic athletes and US Champions, but have specialized in teaching regular adults with no experience. I enjoy helping new people confidently develop the skills they need to safely build a solid foundation. It is important that students understand their body and basic skills to be safe and also feel progress. I am known for being a technician that can break things down into bites that are easier for the students to understand. See the “About” page for my Bio.

Classes in our Library

Full Length Classes

Full Length classes run just about an hour. These are designed to give you the full classroom experience in the privacy of your own home.

Quick Clinics & Shorts

Most people do not have an hour a day to devote to their fitness.  A variety of short videos ranging from 5 – 20 minutes fills the gap on those busy days. Quick Clinics are a short video detailing one posture or transition to help new students gain additional information. Also included are Sleep videos, Take 10’s and Gimme 20’s and Yoga Tabata’s .

Yoga For Sleep

Getting to sleep is an issue many people face, including my dear hubby.  Improved sleep quality is linked to improved quality of life. Studies have shown that gentle stretching and meditative breath before bedtime can help you fall asleep faster and have better quality sleep.

SPECIALTY CLASSES

Specialty classes cover a variety of different subjects and needs. This includes Chair yoga, and classes to address specific physical issues.

Mat Pilates

Pilates is a form of body and breath work that marries beautifully with Yoga.  Joseph Pilates was fascinated with anatomy and all forms of exercise, he brought those movements into his method. Where yoga tends focus on postures, Pilates tends to focus on small detailed movements. These small movement repeated frequently lead to improved conditioning.

It's Tabata Time to Work Out

Just 4 minutes a day is all it takes to complete one circuit of a Tabata. What is a Tabata? It’s a type of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with a specific timetable. An exercise is done for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest, this is repeated 8 times. The choice of exercises is variable, making it adaptable to different levels. HIIT training aids in cardiovascular health, can enhance cognition, and increase metabolism. These Tabata’s will allow you to cross train with the other classes.
